Jane Langford

Jane says that her involvement with JPT began in 1997 like all the best stuff in life: she just fell into it. She thought she had signed up for a playgroup “that was sort of like psycho-drama.” Before she knew it, she was performing before an audience, a prospect which still challenges her. However, she loves stories and hearing how people think and feel, where they’ve been. Now she’s totally hooked on the magic that happens when people see themselves reflected in their own and other people’s stories and realize “I’m not the only one” or have a new insight into a difficult situation. The creative process excites her, such as the instances when her own sense of the story is shaken by another actor’s idea and the whole performance swoops off into an unexpected direction. Somehow it all comes together and works! Playback is all about trust: trust in that creative process, trust that our audience will honor us with story, trust that the actors will have the right chemistry, and trust that we will succeed in reflecting the story at a deeper level. Her day job is a Licensed Massage Therapist. She enjoys making pottery, gardening, and reading.

Walter Fitzwater

Walter is a founding member of JPT and has worn many hats throughout the years. He studied drama at San Francisco City College, performing many classics and using his architectural background to design and build sets. Ten years ago he wrote a play to share his experience with AIDS and formed Healing Theatre, Inc. being it’s director as well as an actor fulfilling his desire to help others and indeed helping himself. He has also performed in various community theatres and has produced other of his plays for the First Coast Theatre Arts Association. He feels that acting, singing, making noises and movement in playback is a wonderful way to give back to the community where he is a part. In return he has learned the essence of listening and the capability to think with his heart.

Richmond Wynn

Richmond has been a troupe member since 1999 and is a true believer in the power of Playback Theatre. Not only does it transform the lives of audience members, actors are changed as well. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Richmond has had the opportunity to participate in the transformation of many lives. Playback has taught him to be present and to listen in ways that have enhanced his abilities as a therapist. Richmond is also an educator, trainer and consultant and recognizes the influence of Playback Theatre in all aspects of his life.

Maureen McLain

Maureen McLain is one of our senior members (in age, not participation years) and joined the troupe in the fall of 2002. She is the mother of three grown children. A product of California in the 70's, she brings a kaleidoscopic mixture of experience to JPT both on stage and off. Her background in photography and business is utilized in the creation of JPT marketing materials. Maureen is a Health & Wellness Coach sharing her passion for health, she educates & supports others to improve their health. She can also be seen about town speaking, giving workshops, drumming, dancing. I love participating in JPT because it provides the opportunity to be a conduit in expressing the emotions of another person, leading to an understanding of the inner similarity we all share. In essence, our "Oneness."

Lynne Carroll

Lynne joined the troupe as an Apprentice in October 2002. She is a professor in the counseling program at the University of North Florida. She was “called” to JPT after seeing the troupe perform during their guest appearance in one of her graduate classes. Recognizing the power and potential of Playback to transform, Lynne also views JPT as the fruition of a long-time desire to return to the stage and the realization (of sorts!!) of a childhood dream of becoming a famous Shakespearean actress.
